Keep Shining Through

July 14,2008

Ate Jen, Ladine and me attended Carlo’s Capping, Badge Investiture and Candle Lighting Ceremony in Manila Sanitarium Hospital & College. It lasted for almost 3 hours since there were 250+plus candidates. They did the usual program like Nightingale’s Pledge, Loyalty Pledge, Class Song, Class Dedication and Presentation of the Students.

Their class is S’envoler 2010. I don’t know how to pronounced that though. I didn’t get it the first time I heard it. But anyway, I did the filming for my brother and I love their class song entittled “Keep Shining Through”. While I’m editing the video, I especially separated that part of the song.

Here it is:

Enjoy!!!

Days had gone by
Childish fears were left behind
As we embrace another milestone
For a brighter tomorrow
Let God be our guide
Let Him be in our minds
And together we’ll defeat
The storms that will bar our ways

Chorus:
Flaming power
Sense, persistence
Courage, trust can make us soar
Above the starry skies
Earnest prayer and honest care
Lead us not into despair

Many people think that they have everything
But they don’t really have it all
Some people dream of triumph and success
But what really matters most
Is if we only strive for it
Our effort and our strength

Bridge
Fly high and soar
From here to the wildest shore
We will stand proud before the walls
We won’t falter, we’ll never fall.

Congratulations! Rafael Nadal, 2008 Wimbledon Champion

I’m just so elated. Rafa won his first Wimbledon crown after such a fantastic display of the best tennis final you’ll ever see. It was really pure madness. It was such a crazy, time-to-bite-the nails kinda match. My heart really took a damn good beating during the 5-set thriller. I thought it would end at 3rd set with Rafa’s momentum up and two sets already in the bag. But stupid rain delay. When play resumed, Federer claimed the 3rd and 4th set. He had to fight for it though. Each set went into a tiebreak and Roger has a very good record with these situations. I was feeling kinda down during the 4th set where he wasted championship points. But I was hoping it will not keep him from playing well. So on to the deciding set full of hope that everything will go right. I believe Rafa has the mental strength to bring himself back up and be interested in the play. And he did. Albeit keeping me at the edge of my seat. Fed was really firing aces, he didn’t just give up the crown like that. Quite unbelievable actually. The win could either be one of them. Damn those serves. But I was amazed at Rafa’s spirit and determination to keep coming back from a set down. Finally, he was able to broke Fed’s serve (no more of those) and had the chance to serve for the championship. That was his moment, his chance and he took it. 6-4 6-4 6-7 6-7 9-7  Vamos!!! I’m so happy.

Nadal had matched the Bjorn Borg fantastic feat of winning the Grand Slams of Roland Garros and Wimbledon back-to-back and had also prevented Federer surpassing the five titles in a row he collected between 1976 and 1980.

Congratulations Rafa! Well done!
